Seiko Prospex 1970 Diver's Modern Reinterpretation The Naomi Uemura Limited Edition 44mm SLA069J1 Watch

This is a reinterpretation of the watch worn by adventurer Naomi Uemura between 1974 and 1976. The mountaineer wore the Seiko Diver's 1970 watch during his solo sled race from Greenland to Alaska.

A true legend in the sport, he received the National Honorary Award shortly after his disappearance on the descent after climbing Denali in 1984.

In honour of this man, the first climber in the world to reach the summits of these five peaks, and in honour of the watch that accompanied him on many of his adventures, Seiko is launching this limited edition to honour these milestones and this celebrity.

As for the technical characteristics:

It features a stainless steel case and bracelet with super-hard treatment. The case size is 44mm in diameter and 13mm thick. It features a screw-down case back and a screw-down crown.

Textured dial depicting the silhouette and contours of Mont Blanc, the first mountain Uemura climbed. It is set against a patterned background evoking the rock and snow of the mountain, created using pressing and engraving techniques.

The case sides are polished and the bracelet is 5-row, with a safety folding clasp with push button and extender.

The indexes and hands are oversized and feature Lumibrite coating for better readability even in the dark.

The crystal is curved sapphire with anti-reflective treatment for a high level of brightness seen from any angle.

The movement is automatic with Caliber 8L35, with 28,800 beats per hour, 26 jewels and a power reserve of approximately 50 hours. The magnetic resistance is 4,800 A/m.

It is resistant to 200m depth.

The special case includes a quote from Naomi Uemura: "When one dream comes true, other dreams will follow."
