This 2022 "Black Series" particular design edition is limited to 5,500 pieces worldwide. Seiko Prospex Black Series is inspired by the mysterious world of night diving .

The 2022 series is inspired by key moments in Seiko 's diving heritage: 1965, 1968 and 1970. This particular design is a modern take on the 1970 watch. This was called "Captain Willard" by fans of Martin Sheen who wore it in the movie "Apocalypse Now". The original 1970 Diver watch was worn by Japanese explorer Naomi Uemura, the first to scale the highest peaks on each of the 5 continents.

The orange color of markers and lumibrite is designed for greater visibility in the dark of the night sea : orange is the color of night divers' lamps, allowing the time to be clearly read in dark conditions.

This watch is accompanied by Seiko 's first original nylon strap for diving watches, created in 2021: the "SEICHU".
